Learn to speak Japanese out loud
Japanese looks demanding, but the spoken language is regular and has a small set of sounds. Speaking from day one keeps it from becoming a reading-only course.

Speaking Japanese
Why speak Japanese from day one
Japanese puts the verb last and marks each part of the sentence with a small particle such as は, を or に. Rebuilding sentences makes that order familiar, and saying them aloud gets the rhythm right. Pitch accent matters, so listen closely.
Japanese is written in the Japanese script. You hear and say each sentence while you learn to read it, so the writing system is never a wall in front of speaking.

Japanese questions, answered
Can I learn Japanese for free with 4ToSpeak?
Yes. The free plan needs no card and has no time limit. You get 25 daily energy, about 3 to 4 full lessons a day, and the whole module store is open to you (some modules cost coins you earn by practising).
How does 4ToSpeak teach Japanese speaking?
Every Japanese sentence goes through four steps: you order it, translate it, listen and type it, then say it out loud. The last step is the point. You hear how close you were, word by word, instead of tapping an answer.
Do I need a microphone to practise Japanese?
Yes, for the speaking step. Your browser asks permission the first time, and it works on a phone, a tablet or a computer. The other three steps work without one.
Do I need to know any Japanese already?
No. Lessons start from short everyday Japanese sentences and build up, so you can begin from nothing.
Is Japanese hard to learn for English speakers?
It takes longer than European languages. You face a new writing system and an unfamiliar word order. The sounds themselves are friendly, with few of them and no tones, so speaking is a good place to start.
